Parkway Bank & Trust Co. is proud
to be an active and participating member in the communities of each
neighborhood it serves. Whether it be park districts, churches,
schools or charitable associations, Parkway Bank's philosophy is
to "give-back" through partnerships with the marketplace.
Through community sponsorships including local chambers of commerce, civic event endorsements, charitable events, community
concerts, and health and fitness events, Parkway
strives to support groups and individuals of all age groups and
ethnic backgrounds that make up the communities it serves.
Parkway
Bank has supported many programs just for children, including Little
League sponsorships, local school fund-raisers, career and curriculum
enhancements through sponsored field trips, seasonal fund-raising
for children's shelters and financial/educational programs with
local schools.
A "Bank-At-School" program was developed
in 1996 with the objective of improving the savings habits of children.
Beginning with a few schools in the neighborhood, a staff member of
Parkway Bank visited 4th graders and presented a curriculum of money
management and the importance of saving money. Then by duplicating
an actual banking environment, the children were trained as tellers
and accountants to manage their own bank at school. In 1996, the ABA
(American Bankers Association) Education Foundation presented Parkway
Bank with an award for "Outstanding Contribution to Consumer
Education."
The employees of Parkway Bank & Trust Co.
have been actively involved in various programs. One such program
provides food and funds for local needy families during the holiday
season through the use of bake-offs, raffles and donations. Parkway
employees have also participated in fundraising and donating to the
local chapter of the Salvation Army. Parkway employees also contribute
annually to the local United Way charities.
Parkway Bank & Trust Co. is also involved
with activities for senior citizen groups in various communities.
Sponsoring of health and fitness events and programs are supported
through a partnership with local park districts and the National
Senior Health and Fitness Association.
For over 43 years, Parkway Bank & Trust Co. has committed to the philosophy of supporting the communities it serves—reflected in the company slogan, "What a Community Bank Should Be."
